I got caught out by the filter type, the motor factors I went to put in the reg for my clio and supplied the metal can type but when I went to change it, it was the paper insert type. Seems Renualt used two different type of filter randomly on the D4F engine.

With that removed you can see the fan housing. In the first pic you can see a big connector/plug . Pull up the red part and then the connector just pulls apart. Also unclip the small plug with the yellow and brown wire.

Spray at least 10 spurts of MAF cleaner onto the sensor and then let it air dry for an hour or until completely dry.
